Recharge for Fall

October 1, 2020 by Romack Leave a Comment

It’s here!  Can you feel it and smell it all around?  The Fall season is upon us as we begin our final leg of this most interesting year.

In the Fall a tree will loose its leaves.  The leaves wobble to the ground as they begin to settle on the ground.  We are comparably those leaves.

Perhaps you’ve been feeling a bit unsettled as wobble through the season.  Have you noticed a feeling of an unsettled mind recently?

***

This month I’m reading the book, Deep Work by Cal Newport.  He writes about the lost art of long bouts of time in deep thought on one subject.

He says that when we can practice Deep Work, then we build the skill of attention and this increased attention bleeds into the shallow moments and we more skillfully change the outcome of anything.

He even goes as far as to scientifically prove this!

So in this month of October, what will you be paying attention to?

When we strengthen the skill of attention, we can produce more positive outcomes!

***

I know this might seem weird coming from a Gal that preaches stillness of the mind, but we are striving to find a balance and harmony as we don’t want the mind to become dull.

What ever you decide to focus on during October, keep you attention on your intention!

Pause Frequently,

Erika

P.S.

Meditation is a form of concentration on one point.  It allows us to dive into deep work inward.  Meditation will also allow you to clear the mind so you can create clarity in your deep thoughts.

August Newsletter

“You will get what you focus on, so focus on what you want!”

I love that quote above.  A simple reminder to stay the course.  But also with this reminder, I want you to give yourself permission to WANT something.  What is it that you want?  You’re not being selfish, I promise.  Go on… make a list of what you want!

This is the month to set intentions for your goals.  It’s a great month to create agreements with yourself.  Agreements with yourself that allow you walk forward with a decided heart.  So much so as if you have already achieved your goals and received what you want.

    BEWARE of traps!

A common trap is to get discouraged and lose focus because you don’t see forward movement.  The trap is… you are ALWAYS moving forward even when the work is not glamourous.

So this month and through the end of the year is going to rock.  Imma tell you why… I have put together quite the schedule to deliver tools to you that helps you the ditch the overwhelm and keep focus.

Here is a brief outline of events planned for you!  It’s pretty darn stellar as I have also partnered with Sawubona Sister Gatherings.  This is a place for women to support each other in all of our individual walk in personal and spiritual growth.  I will be sending you more info about this over the next month!

December: Absolutely no events, focus on fully supporting our membership through the end of the year challenges and 2021 transition.

Registration for our VIP Membership and Accountability is always open!

The ‘Ugly Cry’ is More Healing Than You May Know

January 2, 2020 by yinster Leave a Comment

I had a magical “ugly cry”. It wasn’t pretty but the outcome was beautiful.  The end of the year is always hard. It’s a blend of happy and sad. I am floating on a cloud because this is that time of year when my children were born and I clearly remember the excitement of the anticipation of adding to our family and the current excitement of birthday celebrations.

This is the time of year of family togetherness, games, food and merry drinks. The sad part comes in because this is when my Dad’s 4 wheeler malfunctioned, flipped multiple times then threw him 70 feet to land head first on concrete. He sustained uncountable injuries but the one that keeps his cognition equal to a two year olds is the Traumatic Brain Injury.

I’ve felt stifled the last few days and I knew it was because of this time of year and the stagnation in my heart.  I knew rolling out my mat and practicing Yin Yoga would help. While in a pose, I thought of everyone in my life whom I loved and I sent them love.

Then, I thought of Dad. And like a freight train out of nowhere, I burst into uncontrollable sobs. Let the Ugly Cry Therapy Commence.  No ugly cry is complete without slobber and a puddle of salty tears.

I’ve ALWAYS looked at the positive in his accident.  I’m thankful for the accident bringing us together as a family.  I’m thankful of the strength it has given us to figure it out. I’m thankful for the faith it’s given us to know that what ever comes our way, it’s going to be okay.

‘But what I haven’t done is addressed my hate.  After all, hate is a bad word. I even teach my kids to express their aversion using other words than hate.  I’ve never explored hate because I’ve always gone to the positive. It’s my nature. It is my strength. But my strength has bullied my real feeling on the matter.

I allowed my self to pivot towards my hate.  Not mask it with my natural positivity. So when the hate was the first thing I felt in my ugly cry, I leaned into it.

<insert Ugly Cry visual here>

I HATE that this happened to him!

I HATE my Mom has to live without a partner!

I HATE that My Dad’s cognition level keeps him always dependent on someone!

I HATE that my little Brother had to grow up without a Father!

I HATE that my children don’t know this amazing man before his accident!

I HATE HATE HATE HATE that this is the way it is!

  1. HATE. THIS.

Now that felt good.  I am okay with my hate.  I am at peace with this feeling.

<insert epiphany Ugly Cry here>

I was surprised at myself. I actually to experience the hate it instead of putting a warm cozy blanket of positivity around it.  I was ready to move on. That blanket had served me well for years until it didn’t. I accepted that I felt this way. I gave myself grace to feel that way.

It was a beautiful pivot moment to really be in the experience the hate I had been neglecting and covering up with a blanket of positivity

Why do I tell you this?  I tell you this because I want you to be okay with pivoting into your experiences. It’s a beautiful liberation.

Gift yourself the gift of courage and allow yourself to be vulnerable. Open that door even though you don’t know where it leads because what’s on the other side is freedom of our know and unknown demons.

The Simplicity Project – Step 5

September 9, 2019 by yinster Leave a Comment

STEP 5 – Release to Receive

Turn Your Focus Inward.  You’ve done the work for the stuff in your external spaces.  Now what about your internal spaces?

In order to create more space and abundance, we need to remove the stuff so we can be ready to receive.

You have evaluated at least one space.  You have made not on to keep, throw away, give away or store, the clutter in this space.  You have focused on your consumption and are currently working on building a strong foundation of gratitude.  Kudos for you!!!

Please keep in mind that each step doesn’t necessarily end as you move onto the next step.  It can very well be an ongoing process!  That’s okay!

This step requires some more internal examination of the role in your life that you predominately play within ONE of the spaces

you chose to evaluate. For example, in my office, the role I play is an entrepreneur/coach.

Getting specific in our visualizations creates emotion and greater chances of us manifesting what we desire and how we want to feel!

  1. Write out the role you play in that space ____________________________
  2. Visualize yourself best self in that role. Shining and at peace.
  3. What is stopping that feeling from becoming reality?
  4. What limitations are YOU putting on yourself?  What fears are causing these limiting beliefs?

Now we are heading back to Step 2…. It’s time to purge all that STUFF doesn’t serve you.  Turn inward to your intuition.  Does it feel right to  throw out, or give away or store items?   Does it lighten up the room?  Does it release the clutter?  Does it make you feel good?

We are looking to raise our vibrations within this role that you plan in your important space.  Once we raise the vibrations of that role, all the roles in life work together with grace and ease.  This is when life becomes more simple and you become more focused.

LASTLY, but very importantly, bless and say a mantra to  everything you keep.  For example, if you decide to keep an ornamental like a vase, hold the vase, give it grace and gratitude and create a sentence of acceptance for that piece.

“I thank this vase for bringing light to my spirit and giving me something beautiful to look at.”

Sounds coo coo?  It’s not!  It goes back to that step of gratitude which grounds us and simplifies life.

A QUICK NOTE:

Please be sure to comment on this step.  I’d love to hear how you are doing with this process!  Also, I’d love to continue to work with you!  Please reach out to me and we will schedule a Clarity Coaching Call!

The Simplicity Project – Step 4

September 9, 2019 by yinster Leave a Comment

Step 4

The Gratitude Mindset

Developing a gratitude mindset quickly puts the reality you have created into perspective and allows you to cherish what is most important. The strength of this step is not so much what gratitude gives you, but what it takes away so that you can be open to receive.  With gratitude comes the feeling of abundance and you weed out what is not important. You take away or get rid of the emotions that don’t serve you in your quest for simplicity and your best self.

This exercise in gratitude is simple but does take awareness upon waking in the morning.  I know you are up for the challenge!

*****  Before you open your eyes in the morning.  When you are still snuggled in your plush bed with your comfortable sheets, list all the things you are grateful for.  Say them in your head as if you were talking out loud to yourself. Doing this immediately helps you let go of your focus on what you lack and replace it with all the goodness you have!****

The Simplicity Project – Step 3

September 9, 2019 by yinster Leave a Comment

Step 3

Consumption Kills Simplicity and Clarity

Consumption Kills Simplicity And creates attachments that hold us down and keep us from leaping forward!  Attachments are something we discuss more in my coaching program Clarity Above Chaos. For this project, please note that we have attachments to things, but most times those things are simply the mask fronting for the true attachment.  Is it a person, place, thought or emotion?

This particular step is something you may not be ready for at this time.  If not, ask yourself why and then move on to step 4. Come back to this again when it has more value or relevance in your life!

**** Pick a period of time. A day, a week, a month or a year. During this predetermined time, do not purchase anything you don’t NEED.  The simple awareness of not purchasing anything brings more simplicity into your life. You start to become hyper aware of other consumption patterns that can trigger stress, stagnation and complexity.****

Remember,  attachment is the result of consuming things. Let’s call this an exercise in awareness of what you actually need. I promise, we don’t need anymore attachments.  They create that reminder of what we don’t have or didn’t have before we bought it.

I decided to go bold and do this for one year.  I’m 2 months into it and I have gotten so much out of this already.  I fell into the habit of shopping and consuming in excess.  If I were bored, I’d go buy a dress.  If I was so busy I couldn’t breathe, I buy a piece of jewelry. If I had a successful moment in my business, I’d get a manicure.  If I had a failure in my business, I’d go out to eat.  This was an ongoing pattern for years and I didn’t realize how attached to reward I was.  I was attached to distraction by shopping and my success with Modern Yinster showed this.

Now, shopping or frivolous lunches are not an option.  I’ve gotten rid of my need for more stuff and opened a door to determination and discipline.  Now, instead of spending money, I make a lot more!

When I told my kids this they exclaimed, “yea!! because you shop a lot and we had to go with you.”  Ouch, but a good ouch.  They were noticing my unhealthy behaviors and this change benefited them because they no longer have to shop with me, but also, now they will learn that reward comes from within.  They will continue to see me flourish in my business and frankly, my new found drive and discipline is setting a passionate tone for when I am coaching my children through life.

If more comes along with this particular exercise, let’s chat.  This step affects everyone differently and most of my clients are surprised at the results.

Is this something you are up to right now? Perhaps it is a step that you need to put on the back burner?  Timing is important but don’t wait for the perfect time to do this because there will never be a ‘perfect time.’

A QUICK NOTE:

I’d love to continue to work with you on a deeper level.  If you like the idea of creating more simplicity in your life or digging deeper within your true self, let’s set up a call.  I’d love to hear more and introduce you to a program that shows you how to really study yourself to find truth beyond what you think you are capable of knowing.
