Make a Date… With Yourself

Hello Yinster, I hope you have had an awesome week so far.

So from last week’s tip, did you spend the first 5 minutes of every day focusing on you and only you? If so I’m curious, did it change your mindset for the day? What difference about yourself do you notice? 

Are you ready to hear this week’s self care tip? I’m super excited to share it with you. 

Date yourself! 

Yes I’m serious, I mean go all out. Think about what a perfect date looks like to you. Now Pick a date and time, mark it on your calendar. Buy yourself a nice outfit. Pull out all the stops.

How many times in your life have you gone through this experience where you’re putting your best self out there to try and find love from someone else?  

Guess what, it’s time to find love for yourself.

:Loving yourself will help you build self-confidence, self worth, and over all you will feel more positive. When you learn to love yourself, self care will come easier.

I can not wait to hear how your first date goes 😘.

How to Build Positivity Resilience

A positive mindset seems like a pony ride sometimes.  You know, the carousel ride. We have our ups and downs and around and arounds.

Sometimes we even fall off the horse, and that is okay!

Maurey: “So what do we do when we fall off the horse?”
Zoolander: ” I don’t know Maurey, I’m not a gymnast!”

Ha!  It doesn’t matter if you’ve seen that scene in Zoolander before, we all know the answer… we get back on!  That is building resilience!

Our brains are hardwired from birth to lean towards the negative, BUT we can retrain or rewire our brain with intentional exercises.

Here’s a strategy or exercise I use for myself, clients and even my kiddos to pivot towards the positive aspects around any situation!

In any situation that provokes negative thoughts or heavy emotions, Ask yourself, “What is the opportunity right now?” “How can I take advantage of this situation and make something good of it?”

 

This helps shift your mindset from negative to positive.  You move from focusing on what you don’t have to what you have available to you.

Opportunities surround you, every moment of every day! Get intentional about looking for them. Like a game of hide and seek!

I AM STATEMENTS:
“I AM SURROUNDED BY OPPORTUNITY.
“I AM OPEN TO EXPLORING WHAT IS AVAILABLE TO ME. “

Here are some examples:

  • When my Dad was in an accident 15 years ago and we didn’t know if he was going to life or die, we had the opportunity to find joy in the little things.
  • What if your weight loss goals are not going as fast as you would like.  Take the opportunity to turn around and look back to see how far you’ve come!
  • Any personal or professional relationships not so hot right now?  That’s a great opportunity for you to discover some hidden limiting beliefs!

I hope your week is plentiful with opportunities both big and tiny! Both are equally important.

Recharge for Fall

It’s here!  Can you feel it and smell it all around?  The Fall season is upon us as we begin our final leg of this most interesting year.

In the Fall a tree will loose its leaves.  The leaves wobble to the ground as they begin to settle on the ground.  We are comparably those leaves. 

Perhaps you’ve been feeling a bit unsettled as wobble through the season.  Have you noticed a feeling of an unsettled mind recently?

This month I’m reading the book, Deep Work by Cal Newport.  He writes about the lost art of long bouts of time in deep thought on one subject. 

He says that when we can practice Deep Work, then we build the skill of attention and this increased attention bleeds into the shallow moments and we more skillfully change the outcome of anything. 

He even goes as far as to scientifically prove this! 
 

So in this month of October, what will you be paying attention to?

When we strengthen the skill of attention, we can produce more positive outcomes!

I know this might seem weird coming from a Gal that preaches stillness of the mind, but we are striving to find a balance and harmony as we don’t want the mind to become dull.  

What ever you decide to focus on during October, keep you attention on your intention!

Meditation is a form of concentration on one point.  It allows us to dive into deep work inward.  Meditation will also allow you to clear the mind so you can create clarity in your deep thoughts.
